Nikita Krylov tore through a UFC Hall of Famer in just over a minute to kick off his current win streak

The stars are out in Miami with large posts in several fights on the UFC 314 card.

Of course, the fights that get the headlines on 12 April are at the top of the bill, where a new champion of featherweight is crowned when Alexander Volkanovski is confronted with Diego Lopes.

Speaking of featherweight, Patricio Pitbull makes his long -awaited UFC debut against Yair Rodriguez in a remarkable matchup.

Not to mention the Co-Main event in which the lightweight division could have a new competition in the title photo if Paddy Pimblett could pass Michael Chandler.

A fight that has gone somewhat under the radar is the main card opener between two established names at Light Heavyweight who have put together strong winning stripes before they first meet.

Nikita Krylov demolished Alexander Gustafsson on his return to the light heavyweight

Both Nikita Krylov and Dominick Reyes have some victories this Saturday behind those who come into their top 15 collision on 205 pounds.

Although the earlier highlights of Reyes, heavy losses and recent revival are well documented, Krylov is a consistently dark horse of the division that tends to do his business without getting too much attention.

That is not helped by the fact that he was inactive for two years, but before he went through a long absence, 'the miner' put together a streak with three fights.

His current run started back in July 2022, where Krylov loses losses after back-to-back, had the opportunity to welcome a legend of the sport back to the Octagon.

Alexander Gustafsson had not fought in the Hall of Fame for two years the year before for his classic title fight with Jon Jones.

Unfortunately for 'The Mauler' his return to light heavyweight lasted not long after he had only fallen into the fight for 11 seconds.

Krylov continued to overwhelm his opponent with knees before he dropped him again with a major uppercut in the clinch and took one of the biggest victories of his career in London in just 1:07 of the first round.

He started to beat Volkan Ozdemir later that year before he made Ryan Spann the next March.

Nikita Krylov is somehow still a potentially dark horse in the division

Nikita Krylov has fought 18 times in the Octagon with two separate stints in the promotion and yet he is only 32 years old.

The fact that he is still the #8-ranked competition in the division, says a lot about the movement that has happened in light heavyweight in recent years, which means that he could only have been removed from a title shot.

Dominick Reyes is in a similar position on his way to UFC 314, which means that the main card opener can have a huge impact on the landscape on 205 pounds.

Regarding the Great Alexander Gustafsson, he left the UFC last December to sign with the GFL where his debut against Ovince Saint Preux was recently canceled on 25 May.
