Diego Simeone has opened his plans for the aging stars of Atletico Madrid, including important attacker Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann will remain in Madrid in the summer, despite earlier speculation about his future in the Spanish capital, where both parties consistently express their wish to continue the band.
The former French International is from the contract at the end of 2025/26, and he is undecided for a renewal, but with his current form that takes on a hit – there was an increased talk about him that an exit accepted to MLS.
Griezmann has expressed the wish to play in the US before retiring, but that can be put on hold, with the club still open to extend his deal until 2027 when he recovers his best level.
That scenario would include a wage reduction for the 34-year-old, but Diego Simeone is reportedly to have reached the club's hierarchy to demand an effort to keep Griezmann.
Simeone has faith in Griezmann's ability to still influence games in the sharp end of the season, but he admitted that things should change for the veteran Vooruit – in addition to other players of 30 years, including Captain Koke.

“As a coaching we have to live in the present and teams do that too. These players remain part of the hierarchy and with quality that is not lost.
“There are ways to continue to help the team from any position they have in the team.
“I had to go through it as a player. You almost always want to understand at that moment, want to play a player, whether he is 36, 35, 28 or 16!”
Atletico Madrid goes to Las Palmas tomorrow night, with a three -point gorge to Real Madrid in second place, and their title managings are not completely extinguished.
