Liam Delap will be a man this summer who is there after 12 times for Ipswich this season, with Manchester United thought he was ling the race, but former red devil Teddy Sherdingham has warned the striker for a movement
Legend Teddy Sherdingham from Manchester United has sent a warning to Liam Delap about the prospect of moving to Old Trafford, and claims that he will struggle with the poor service currently offered in the club. The Ipswich attacker made an impression this season in the Premier League after scoring 12 goals for the Tractor Boys.
His form for the goal has led to speculation that he could participate in a top six club next season, especially with Ipswich about to be sent back to the championship.
United is mentioned as a possible destination for Delap Given the struggles of the club in advance with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee – and he is an affordable option with a reported buyout clause of £ 30 million.
But Sheringham – who scored 46 times for United for four seasons and their dramatic 1999 Champions League -Final victory over Bayern Munich inspired – believes that Delap will not solve the problems of the team because they do not provide enough service.
The 59-year-old sent a warning to Delap and insisted that his career at United would be a “hard transplant” because they are missing opportunities for the goal.
“Liam delap to Manchester United? I don't think it really matters what kind of striker at the club is,” he told Casino Hawks. “Unless you are going to get a phenomenal Erling Haaland that scores on every occasion, I think they should work more on the service on the striker than which striker plays because point needs need.
“If they don't get it, they become superfluous and it will be a hard transplant for every striker. So I think that is the problem more, getting the right type of service and the team to feed the strikers there are.”
Sheringham, who also played for Tottenham and West Ham and took 51 caps for England, said he was a fan of Hojlund despite the bad displays of the Danish striker this season. He has managed only three goals in the Premier League this season, even though he cost the club £ 72 million in 2023.
However, he has doubts about Zirkzee's prospects at United and said that the Dutchman was not the “ideal man” – but said that the attacker still had quality to deliver for manager Ruben Amorim.
“I like Rasmus Hojlund,” he said. “I really love Hojlund and although I don't think Joshua Zirkzee is the ideal man, I still think he has something a bit about him that you can score goals.”
Amorim is planning to plan a big overhaul of his wrestling team this season and would especially like to get a new striker over the line after seeing only six goals in the Premier League between both Hojlund and Zirkzee.
Their top scorer is currently midfielder Bruno Fernandes with eight, who speaks volumes. Wingers Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho have also surpassed the two attackers.
