Manchester United and Ruben Amorim are open to the sale of most of their team, but Danny Murphy insists that the Red Devils would be crazy to load younger Kobbie Mainoo
Danny Murphy admits that he would be “shocked” to see Manchester United Kobbie Mainoo sell while talking about his exit this summer is going on. The Red Devils want to increase their budget and all options are considered.
Mainoo is in his second year, with the Senior Squadron since he was young in the Premier League club. He burst on stage and was a radiant light during a bad campaign under Erik ten Hag. He has remained a bright light among Ruben Amorim, although his minutes have been limited.
The midfielder is now an English international and stood up during the Euro 2024 campaign last summer, in which the Drie Leeuwen made the final. There is a remarkable interest in Mainoo and as an academy product, the Manchester -Outfit can bank any fee on their balance sheet.
Amorim has to bring in his own players if he will be a success at Old Trafford, but Mainoo again showed his value in the week when he came from the bank to score the equalizer in their dramatic victory over Lyon. Alejandro Garnacho is another man who is connected to the starting door, but Murphy insists that the couple has enormous potential and must be retained.
He wrote in the Daily Mail: “Mainoo and Garnacho are two talented, hungry players who are able to have a big impact for United in the next five years or more, whether under Amorim or another manager. If I was Amorim, I would talk to Mainoo, talk to my bosses and make sure he stays.
The ex-liverpool man is on it, for which the Manchester-Outfit Mainoo sells, they would burst even more to land a player of his quality. He called the decision to resell Scott McTominay in the summer, another Academy player, only to see him do well in Napoli.
Murphy also pointed to the lack of options from United in the middle of the park as another reason why keeping Mainoo is so important. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen stay in the club, but both men are the wrong side of 30 and tipped to leave this summer, leaving more gaps to fill.
Amorim has not been shy in pointing to the mistakes of Mainoo, which is why he is sometimes left on the couch. The teenager also had to adapt to playing in a two -man midfield, but Murphy insists that his weaknesses are normal for a player of his age and that good things will come.
He said: “I am surprised that he no longer characterized this season for United, especially with their problems in midfield, although I appreciate that he has had injuries. I know that Amorim thinks there have been weaknesses in his defensive work in certain competitions, but that is normally for a young midfielder in the system of the different positions adapting.”
