‘I get OCD’ … TJ Dillashaw reveals one of his biggest UFC regrets after retirement

TJ Dillashaw wishes him to have done things differently as a young gun in the UFC.

The retired double UFC champion is considered one of the largest Bantam weights of all time with several title fights victories over Champs Renan Barao and Cody Garbrandt in their prime numbers.

Dillashaw was signed at the UFC in 2011 after he fails to win 'The Ultimate Fighter 14' against John Dodson. Despite losing his first fight in the Octagon, Dillashaw quickly rose through the ranks of the 135LB division with three-right Finishes and eventually found itself in title conflicts.

TJ Dillashaw won the world title in an all-time upset against Renan Barao in 2014, just over two years away from his first UFC victory.

TJ Dillashaw regrets no more fights in his heyday

From 2011 to his last title fight, a TKO loss for the then Aljamain-Sterling in 2022, Dillashaw fought 18 times in the UFC before a Gnarly shoulder injury forced him to leave the sport for good.

Dillashaw is located in MMA pension at the age of 39 and opens one of his biggest regret.

“I wanted to go back now, I wish I was just doing more fights more often,” said Dillashaw on the Jaxxon podcast.

“Because I was always in shape and I was always shooting to go.

“But if you try to climb the ladder and you shoot in front of the belt, you are so of it, do you want to make sure you are ready, right?”

TJ Dillashaw gets 'OCD' when it comes to fighting

During its UFC official period, Dillashaw fought three times in 2013, 2014 and 2016.

From 2014, Dillashaw consistently fought against champions and top-5 contenders. After an active 2016, Dillashaw fought a fight in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and was suspended for two years after a positive drug test for Erythropoietin (EPO) of his flying weight of Henry Cejudo.

Dillashaw says he would probably have had more fights if he was not a perfectionist.

“I get a little OCD [obsessive-compulsive disorder] About that, “Dillashaw said about taking fights.

“I get OCS about how ready I will be.

“I want every crossed, everything I am littered with my training camp, my skills, my diet, my recovery …

“I was always too big a perfectionist for every fight to be true [I should’ve said] “Just be in shape and more often fight more.”

“I wish I would have done that,” Dillashaw added.
