Man Utd eye Osimhen in cut-price transfer as Ruben Amorim preference revealed

Manchester look out for a busy summer in the transfer window and head coach Ruben Amorim seems to supplement his forward line at Old Trafford in the coming months

Manchester United continues with a £ 40 million deal to sign Victor Osimhen this summer. United -Baas Ruben Amorim has made Napoli forward from Osimhen – currently on loan in Galatasaray – its top Striker Transfer Target this summer.

United has struggled this season for goals and Amorim sees the 26-year-old Osimhen as the perfect player to solve that problem. In addition to his proven scoring bravery – he has 29 goals of 34 games this season – Osimhen goes with Napoli in the last year of his contract with Napoli.

That means that Napoli has to sell him or run the risk of losing him next year, with United – operating under financial limitations due to profit and sustainability rules – convinced that they can land the Nigeria International for compensation that is considerably lower than its market value.

Osimhen fits the age profile at United, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe who would like to build a team of young players with the potential to grow together, as well as the resale value on the transfer market. United also looks at Ipswich striker Liam Delap, who will also be available for £ 30 million this summer, but Amorim is understood as a movement for Osimhen, given his greater experience and proven ability to score in Europe.

Osimhen is not only a productive goal scorer, but also has Champions League experience and fires Napoli on the Serie A-title in 2022-23, their first competition success for 33 years. Osimhen would not be stunned about the prospect of the attack of United, something that has been too much for £ 72 million that Rasmus Hojlund signed, which has a lonely goal in his last 28 performances for Amorim's side.

With Joshua Zirkzee for the season, Amorim has no choice but to stay on with Hojlund's attack, although the Portuguese boss has experimented with Kobbie Mainoo who played in a more advanced role.

United, who is also hopeful to sign Matheus Cunha van Wolves, will sell players this summer to finance the rebuilding of Amorim's team, with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony all to be sold, with Casemiro and Alejandro Garnacho who probably abandoned the right price.

Earlier this month, Amorim spoke the importance of the summer transfer window. The head coach said: “There are characteristics that we don't have in our team and we try to see the holes we have.

“When I say that we need 'big players', I am not talking about Real Madrid players. I am talking about players like I see the game. Of course money helps!

“We have to be really good at recruitment. We have to know our system and the way we play – and the players must be perfect for their positions. So we know what to do, that is clear and we will see next season.”
