Juve ‘lacked determination and desire’ in Parma defeat, says Tudor

Igor Tudor admitted that Juventus “Determined and desire was missing” during their 1-0 defeat by Parma on Wednesday.

The Bianconeri missed the opportunity to jump Bologna and get fourth place back in the Serie A, after the first half of Mateo Pellegrino established the match in Stadio Ennio Tardini.

While Juve stays in fifth place – the last qualifying place in Champions League in the Italian top flight – Lazio explained the pressure by moving the level on points after a 2-0 win over Genoa.

Despite the registration of 37 crosses to Parmas 11 and 39 touches in the opposition box, the Tudor side side recorded only two shots on goal – the first in the 65th minute – of 16 attempts.

And the head coach, who replaced Thiago-Motta last month, knew that his players did not come across expectations. Their 16th place opponents.

“We missed everything,” he said. “We pushed a lot in the second half, but we were not dangerous enough.

“We missed determination and desire. Too often we were just happy to participate. We have to grow, be bad and have the desire to win and fight.

“Parma is doing well now. They play football easily, but they have a competitive mind. We deserved to score a goal, but unfortunately we were not determined in advance.

“We could have done more. If you reach the last 20 or 25 meters, you have to score. If you don't, the risk loses the game.”

The winner of Pellegrino means that Juventus has admitted 10 cup goals for the first time since 2009-10 (also 10) in a Serie A season (also 10).

However, the Bianconeri must quickly suppress itself before they resume their battle for a top five against Monza on Saturday.

“We are disappointed, but we look ahead,” Tudor added. “There are five more games and many points at stake. We are already playing again in four days.”
