Carlo Ancelotti chose to make various changes to his side prior to the Copa del Rey final of this weekend against Barcelona. The will of Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo Goes were offered, and that enables players such as Arda Guler and Endrick Felipe to get a rare opportunity in La Liga.
And it was an opportunity that Guler used, while he scored the only goal of the game. There were unsavory scenes in the final phase when referee José María Sánchez Martínez brought a temporary stopping to the procedure after Aurelien Tchouameni reported offensive hymns of a small part of Getafe supporters. And that meant that six minutes were added at the end, but that was not enough for the hosts to force an equalizer.
The result brings Real Madrid back in four points from Barcelona, so that they are held in the race to retain their La Liga title. Reports for Getafe means that they are 12th, with their shortage of the European places on five points.
