In recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation about the manager's task at Real Madrid, who could soon be vacant. Carlo Ancelotti is currently in charge, but if he ends the season in a Downer, it is almost certain that his second spell would be brought to an early end.
There is a growing conviction that Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid, regardless of whether they win La Liga and/or the Copa del Rey, where the Italian also expected to leave his position before the club world starts in June. And if that happened, the compelling favorite to succeed him Xabi Alonso.
Alonso has been on the radar of Real Madrid for a while, and this summer the time he can take the reins in the Santiago Bernabeu. He has an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen that he can leave for the Spanish capital if that is what he wants, although Los Blancos should buy him from his contract, which will not expire until the end of the following season.
And according to El Partidazo de Cope it would cost € 8 million for Real Madrid to bring Alonso this summer. As such, the club would exceed their complete expenses last summer if they activated this agreement with Leverkusen, since Kylian Mbappe (free transfer) was the only player who arrived in 2024.
It feels inevitable that Alonso will end the next manager of Real Madrid in the coming months, despite ties with Andoni Iraola and Jurgen Klopp in recent months. There had been questions about it when he would take over from Ancelotti, but it seems increasingly likely that everything will happen this summer. And if so, this would represent a new era for the club.
