Women’s Super League predictions: Palace stare down the barrel of relegation

None of the top three in the Super League for Women is in action this weekend, so attention is briefly switched to the other end of the table.

After the loss of Crystal Palace against Chelsea, who are now only four points away from the WSL title, the Eagles on the edge of relegation are back directly to the Second Division.

And a loss against West Ham on Sunday would secure their destiny if they are seven points on Drift by Leicester City and Aston Villa.

If the Eagles lose, the foxes will be mathematically safe by the time they start against Manchester City, who hopes to seize the chance to close the gap to the Champions League places.

Liverpool and Tottenham will get the action on Sunday, where both teams want to make the campaign a strong finish.

Everton and Brighton are also confronted, with the seagulls who need a victory because they want to end a point of three without one.

But who will think the OPTA Supercomputer will be the winners and losers on MatchDay 20?

Liverpool against Tottenham

Liverpool bounced back from their FA Cup semi-final Hartzeer with a victory over Brighton previous time-out in the WSL, and they are expected to follow that with a different victory on Sunday.

The OPTA Supercomputer gives them a 54.9% chance of getting all three points, by continuing their excellent run under Interim -Baas Amber Whiteley, who won three of its five games (L2).

Spurs, who get a chance of 21.9% to beat the Reds, won their first two WSL meetings with Liverpool, but have since become profitless in their last four (D2 L2).

They also have the longest active Winless Streak in the WSL (seven games, D1 L6) – Spurs had never made a series of more than five games without a victory under Robert Vilahamn.

And perhaps a tight match should be expected, because six of the seven league profits of Liverpool have only reached one goal this season, whereby only competition leaders Chelsea achieve more victories on one goals.

Fixed Time -Out on MD19, Ceri Holland became the first Liverpool player who records two Open Play assists in a WSL game since Sophie Haug vs Brighton in November 2023 -No player has more general open play assists in the competition for the Welsh woman (seven).

Crystal Palace against West Ham

As mentioned, the relegation of Palace would be confirmed if they lose to West Ham, making them the first team to be relegated in their debut WSL campaign.

So they need a victory to extend their stay at the top table, but the Eagles have each lost of their seven WSL London Derbies due to a total score of 32-4, with at least three goals in each defeat.

In the reverse fixture against the Hamers, they took a 2-0 lead within 11 minutes, only to collapse to a 5-2 loss.

Palace has also lost each of their last three WSL matches without scoring and admitting 11 times. In fact, they have not registered any shot against Chelsea in the previous time out.

West Ham is undefeated in each of their last four WSL matches (W1 D3), but they have put trouble on the road and go without winning in their last 14 out of the league matches (D3 L11).

They will still have a little more chance of winning, whereby the OPTA -SUPERCOMPUTER assesses their chances with 39.1% compared to 35% of Palace. A draw is perhaps the most likely result at 25.9%.

Everton V Brighton

Everton, whose manager Brian Sorensen has just signed a new contract, has the chance to jump Brighton in the table with a victory in Walton Hall Park and is expected to get all three points (50.9%).

The last five WSL meetings of the Toffees have exchanged between a loss (three) and a victory (two), as a result of which the inverted fixture lost 4-0 earlier this season.

After that victory, Brighton, whose chances of victory are 24.2%, wants to complete a first WSL-Dubele about Everton, with this the seventh campaign for top flight in which they met.

Brighton is at a loss of three games in the WSL, while only the bottom palace (four) earned fewer points in 2025 than the seagulls (five-W1 D2 L6).

However, if they can get the first goal, they can have a chance to end that streak-replace-replacement has none of their last 29 WSL matches won when they are left behind (D6 L23), a run that extends a 3-2 victory for reading in April 2023.

Leicester City against Manchester City

Man City is seven points behind the third placed man Utd, who only plays on Wednesday, and would keep their Champions League-Hoop alive with a victory over Leicester.

They currently get a chance of 11.8% to catch up with United to finish third, whereby the OPTA -SUPERCOMPUTER expects that they will finish fourth on 10 May.

They are the team that most likely achieves a victory this weekend at 75.3%, with the opportunities of Leicester to cause an upset at only 10.8%.

City has won each of their seven WSL meetings with the Foxes with an aggregated score of 21-1, so that a clean slate is kept in each of their last six of such games.

However, the citizens have dropped points this season in eight of their 19 league games (W11 D3 L5), all the joint number of matches they have not won in a season next to 2014 (P14, W6 D1 L7).

And the home form of Leicester is strong – each of their last 14 points in the WSL has been won in home (W4 D2). They are currently at home at their longest unbeaten run at home in the top of the top (five matches-W3 D2).
