Reijnders scored in the 3-0 midweek victory in San Siro Stadium.
“Milan is red and black because Inter could not beat us this season,” Reijnders told Gazzetta.
“We showed what we are capable of. The latter was the best of the five Derbies played. We have not been consistent enough in terms of performance and had points along the way.
“Winning the Coppa Italia would enable us to participate in European competitions next season and we have to go for it. We were there as hungry dogs and, moreover, we showed the quality that has not always been there this season.
“There is no real explanation, except that we were not consistent. A clear example is winning in the Bernabeu and then cagliari. If you want to fight for the title, you can't pay for it.”
“Milan is a dream”
When signing a new contract just a few weeks ago, Reijnders added: “Living in Italy and playing for a club like Milan is a dream I have had since I was a child. My family is happy here.
“When I was offered a contract extension, it was a no-brainer. I want to thank the club: the management moved quickly to reach an agreement.”
