Tyrique George: From Chelsea prospect to wonderkid outshining top stars

He was once just a different face in the crowd in Cobham.

Now Tyrique George relieves the Premier League.

His story is the kind of story that reminds us of what football dreams are really made of.

The 19-year-old winger went from Academy Promise to Premier League Baller of the first team, and it is not only talent that brought him there, it has been years of grit, gravel and an unwavering family bond.

At a time when Chelsea has spent more than £ 1 billion on signing some of the best talents from all over the world, they are stories such as Tyrique's giving Hope to Cobham and young players reassuring that you can still rise and make it through the ranks.

Born from a Ghanaian mother and Nigerian father, the roots of Tyrique Diep, and his support system too.

They poured their lives into him. Ordinary jobs, extraordinary sacrifices.

His father did not miss any of his first teams home games and his mother has rejected services to get him through the city for training.

From north -to the south, she sought him for the training field in Cobham, Surrey, such as Clockwork. And now, the boy in which she believed lives the dream.

George was 11 years old when he was photographed with Jadon Sancho, then 17, in the parking lot of a goal center in South London.

Now they play together in the youthful team of Chelsea under Coach Enzo Maresca.

Bishmark Odoi, father of former Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi, remembers how George fell out of the peloton at a young age.

Bishmark said: “He is a few years younger than my son, but he was very noticeable from his early years.

“We used to take them all with us, but I am happy that he makes his parents proud because I tell you that it is a lot of hard work, people only see the results, but the work is huge.

“Tyrique was very close to another man who was similar to form, called Apau, I think, a very good young player during their Under-12 days.

“Not everyone makes it, but yes, he was there. I think he was one of the young people who played very well knowing that their parents also watched.”

George was not only good at youth level. He was special.

In 2023 he scored a 35 -meter strike against Crystal Palace that would be nominated for the goal of the club of the season, and announced him to the top players of the first team who might not have heard his name before.

Sources on the training basis of the club in Cobham speak, on condition of anonymity to protect their relationship, say that his ball-span power is one of the best they have ever seen that has come through.

A source said: “His ball attacks is from the charts. People don't expect it from him, but he has dynamite in that foot.

“When we needed a goal at the academic level, we gave it to him and he just let it fly.”

Regular journalists Stamford Bridge this season say that George has that faith, not arrogance, but a self -confidence that whispers: “I have it” when he speaks with reporters.

George achieved a combined 33 goals about the U18s and U21s and helps last season.

But it was only when his bullet against Fulham ended that the world was really aware.

To be honest, he benefited enormously from the suspension of the Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who was suspended for the time being after he had been tested positively for a forbidden substance while he had international duty last year.

But that is the story of life … you have to be ready when you have a chance. And George, he has been ready for a while.

Saul Isaksson-Hurst, his former coach at Chelsea, tells Sunsport how it was easy to see from a young age that he was special.

He said: “I remember a tournament in Portugal where we took them, if I remember correctly, it was a tournament under 9, and for a child of that age to have the authority he had and the leadership skills he showed was a sign that he could manage.

“Chelsea Academy has the most rigorous recruitment process and an even more difficult process to continue to get a contract.

“So to keep his head down and to do the work is a show of the ingredients that made him.

“He understands the chance that he was given, and he is determined to use it well.

“And as coaches, that's all we want to see after we have brought these children at a young age and try to give a good chance of life.”

The feeling among everyone near Tyrique is that he is just starting.

But his journey emphasizes the importance of self-confidence, as well as the dedication and often unspoken roles of parents to guide and monitor, especially in today's world.

The early starts and late finishes have given him the chance, and now the world is its oyster.
