Harry Kane made the “crazy” decision that will see him miss the potential title-clint game of Bayern Munich.
Kane's booking, his fifth of the season in the Bundesliga, means that the captain of England will be suspended for Bayern's collision with RB Leipzig next week.
If Bayern Leipzig beats, they will seal their 34th Bundesliga -Kroon.
It will mark the first major trophy of Kane's career, but the 31-year-old will not be able to take the celebrations with his teammates.
Kane, however, promised not to let the disappointment come to him.
“Crazy, crazy decision,” said Kane, who was booked for wasting time just before the interval.
“It's a kind of my story that I will miss the Leipzig game.
“But no worries, I will celebrate more than anyone else.”
Kane is also about to become the first player to end up as the most important scorer of the Bundesliga in his first two seasons in the competition.
“It's not ideal, but we won,” said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany of Kane's yellow card. “But it's not like a final [against Leipzig].
“We will play 34 games this season and I think [injured] Boys like Jamal [Musiala]Alphonso [Davies]Dayot upamecano and [Hiroki] Ito must also celebrate the title.
“Every title you have to celebrate as if it is your first, so I don't think it will make a lot of difference to Harry.
“This season is not taking away a single percentage of his contribution.”
Thomas Müller makes his 500th Bundesliga performance for FC Bayern Munich – he is the fourth player who reaches this Mark for a single club after Charly Körbel (602 for Frankfurt), Manfred Kaltz (581 for HSV) and Michael Lameck (518 for Boch). Milestone. @esmuellert_ pic.twitter.com/mjajqlmuob

Leroy Sane, Michael Olise and Eric Dier were on goal against Mainz, where Thomas Muller came from the bank to make his 500th Bundesliga -appear.
He is only the fourth player in the history of the competition to hit that milestone for a single club, and the first to do this for Bayern Munich.
It also marked Muller's penultimate home match for the club, with the Bayern Great leaves at the end of the season.
“Of course I am happy and I have to thank the fans. But I am starting to realize that it was my penultimate game. In two weeks it will be my last home game,” Muller told Sky Germany.
“If you played 500 Bundesliga games, there were of course many of them at home. Going to the stadium will only be part of the routine. Well, next year I will need a ticket.”
