TOM COLLOMOSSE: Glasner will be on top clubs’ radar after stunning FA Cup win

With an aggregated 16-4 lead over their last five games, the verdict is clear: Oliver Glasner is the equivalent of Kryptonite for Unai Emery Coaching.

This was the fourth victory of Glasner in five games against the Aston Villa boss and his third alone this season, after Crystal Palace also defeated 4-1 Villa in Selhurst Park and 2-1 won in Villa Park in the Carabao Cup.

Throw the 5-0 triumph of the Eagles in Selhurst Park In the last game of last season against that time, although Villa had already secured a top-four finish and the superiority of Palace in these competitions has reached an embarrassing level for Emery.

Not many coaches have had the lead over Emery like this. Jose Mourinho is unbeaten in six games against the Basque Zinedine Zidane in five. Emery has also had a grim time against Diego Simeone and Jurgen Klopp and claims only one victory of 17 and 11 meetings respectively.

What is striking Glasner is that the other four managers often had stronger hands. Villa is 12 points free from Palace in the table and finished 19 above them last season.

Those figures suggest that the Emery collective is better than that of Glasner, but the Austrian seems to have the number of Emery Face -To -Face.

Palace fans will hate to hear it, but if Glasner can have this kind of success against a manager like Emery, who has won 11 trophies in a wonderful career, elite clubs will wonder how he could perform in their dug-out.

Glasner already understands what it is like to lead a top club. He led Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League title in 2022. He has proven the ideal coach to get the most out of the excellent recruitment from Palace and has the right combination of calmness and passion on the touchline. There is a lot to be found for top clubs.

It is no surprise that Glasner was on the shortlist of Bayern Munich last summer and the high command of the German giants will have viewed the Villa Palace with interest. He can still come to the largest day in their history next month when they enter into Nottingham Forest of Manchester City.

For Villa this was such a missed opportunity and they now have to do work to stop a season that promised glory that ended in Anticlimax.

They have left the Champions League and the FA Cup in the room of 12 days, which means that their waiting for a trophy will stretch for at least 30 years. Brian Little was one of the disappointed fans at Wembley and remains the last villa boss who won a grand finale here – the League Cup in 1996.

Villa may have to win all four of their remaining league matches to qualify for next season's Champions League – what they might have to make to make progress with the Emery -desire rate.

Villa's wage account is a high percentage of their total turnover and although this season to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in sales will be considerably stimulated, another crack in the European top club competition could invest again this summer.

Villa will probably have to make at least one important sale before the end of June, because, like other clubs, they will be in accordance with the financial rules of the Premier League.

But with the income from the Europa League and the Europa Conference League so much less than what the Champions League generates, ending outside the top five can mean that Villa should adjust their ambitions.

So Villa is confronted with a tough battle for breathing into the magical nights they enjoyed this season in Europe.

If they reach the competition again, it would not be a big surprise if they found Glasner in the opposite dug-out again.
