The Premier League has revealed why Tyler Adams avoided a red card for his tackle on Alejandro Garnacho during the Bournemouth collision with Manchester United.
In the challenge of Garnacho, Adams seemed to jump with two feet and caught the Argentinian star in the 21st minute of the collision at the Vitality Stadium.
Referee Peter Bankes gave the American a yellow card, but the incident was checked by VAR John Brooks, who did not send the civil servant to the monitor.
Brooks decided that De Geel was sufficient punishment, to the great frustration of the man United Bench and their fans.
In a statement on X, the Premier League Match Center wrote: “The Referee's Call of Yellow Card for the challenge by Adams on Garnacho was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the challenge that is considered reckless and not a serious mistake.”
The misery of United was compiled minutes later when Antoine Semenyo de Cherries gave a 1-0 lead.
