Paddy Pimblett sends a message to the doubters when he looks back on his victory over Michael Chandler
After having spent some time to have spent the victory with his supporters, including a private yacht party, it was time for Paddy Pimblett to address his critics.
Many fans predicted that although Michael Chandler could be towards the end of his career, he would still be incredibly dangerous.
Even in his previous outing where he was convincingly beaten by Charles Oliveira, 'Iron' Mike was still able to hurt 'Do Bronx' in the last round with the One-shot strength in his hands.
'The Baddy' has proven that he is a dangerous finisher with excellent submission skills, but one aspect of his game has been investigated particularly in the past.
The striking defense of Pimblett was a big talk point in his earlier fights in the UFC, but this did not play an important role on April 12 before the rising competition person got the finish in the third round.
The Brit collected damage that he recorded, while the same could not be said for Chandler who, as is often the case, left the octhoek bloody and bruised.
More than two weeks after the fight, Pimblett chose to remind those who doubt him to remind him that they believed that he would struggle on the feet in the Kaseya Center in Miami.
“After everyone said that Mikes Power would be too much for me, I think you all realized that it was the other who was very quickly.”
What is the next step for Paddy Pimblett?
After his victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 314, Paddy Pimblett moved four places in the lightweight ranks.
'The Baddy' is now looking for what would probably be a title eliminator who mentioned several opponents in his interview after the fight in Miami.
Both Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira would fit perfectly with this lock if two top candidates in the division that would be his most difficult test to date at some distance.
The division can be set for a number of major changes in the coming months with Islam Makhoeven that may go up, while Ilia Topuria still has to make his debut at 155 pounds.
Regardless of how everything takes place, Pimblett is in a great place with what will certainly be one of the biggest fights of 2025 that is waiting for him on the horizon.
