This summer Arsenal wants to sign the real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi, despite reported interest in the Spain International of Real Madrid
Arsenal reportedly told Real Madrid that the summer transfer of Martin Zubimend has almost been completed. Zubimendi has a release clause of £ 51 million in his contract and Arsenal has already laid the foundation for a deal to be completed.
Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the midfielder, but Madrid waited in the wings and considered an attempt to hijack the transfer. Arsenal, however, seems to have sent a warning to Madrid for the deal.
According to a report from Cadena Ser, Arsenal told Madrid during a board meeting before the second stage of their Champions League quarterfinals that they have practically completed the signing of Zubimendi.
The report adds that a number of other transfer goals from Madrid are also viewed by Premier League clubs, including the will of Bournemouth -defender Dean Huijsen, keeper of Espanyol, Joan Garcia and Bayer Leverkusen Pelen Florian Wirtz.
So far, Madrid has passed a disappointing campaign, by being beaten from the Champions League and losing the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona. They are currently also in second place in Laliga, four points behind Barcelona with five more games to play.
As a result, Madrid -Baas Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave the club and he will be put in line to become the new Brazilian manager. However, when he discussed the rumors prior to the final of Copa del Rey, Ancelotti said: “I love being here [at Madrid] And I hope this will take as long as possible.
“The honeymoon continues. I am very happy, satisfied. There is a lot of pressure, but that is always the case on this point of the season. I am happy with the club, they know that this has been a difficult season. Stress is fuel – it doesn't bother me, it gives me more energy.”
Former Madrid player Xabi Alonso is the favorite to replace Ancelotti, with memorable leverkusen to their very first Bundesliga title last season. And Leverkusen Chief Fernando Carro spoke earlier this month about the future of Alonso.
When asked if Alonso has a release clause, Carro said: “No, but we have a men's agreement. If a team for which he has played comes, we sit down and talk and we will not place any obstacles in his way.
“He played for Bayern, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad … Maybe Real Sociedad will come! Last year he assured us during the international break that he would stay with us, despite having offers from other teams.
“This international break, at the end of March, we sat down to talk and we gave ourselves some time to decide whether he will stay with us until next year. We are very calm because we have an excellent relationship.
“Undoubtedly, I would rather Madrid win all the competitions they participate in, because there would not be these discussions, but they can still win the competition and the cup!”
