Both Barcelona and Inter have had injury problems prior to their semi-final tie from the Champions League that will start with the first stage in the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company on Wednesday, but there has been some good news about this issue for the Serie A-side in the past 24 hours.
On Sunday Benjamin Pavard joined fellow countryman Marcus Thuram on the injured list for Inter after he landed awkwardly on his ankle during the 1-0 defeat against AS Roma. The expectation is that he will not be able to combat Barcelona this week, but there is more optimism with his club and international teammate.
According to the sport, interpresident Giuseppe Marotta Dazn told him that Thuram will be available for Barcelona on Wednesday.
“He recovers little by little, but I am very optimistic. I hope and I think he will come on Wednesday.”
Those comments came before the game against Roma on Sunday, and 24 hours later Inter received a big boost when Thuram completed a solo intensity session with high intensity on Monday. As such, there is now much more confidence that he will be able to include in the Simone Inzaghi team for the trip to Catalonia.
Thuram available would be fantastic news for Inter, especially because he could come up with an exhausted defense of Barcelona. Starting with left back Alejandro Bald hopes to return this week, but a decision whether he can play still have to be taken. The Catalans will be desperate to return, although Hansi Flick will have faith in Gerard Martin if the Spain International will not get the medical green light.
