Arteta urges fans to be their extra man in seismic UCL semi-final against PSG

Mikel Arteta has called on the fans of Arsenal to create the best atmosphere of Emirates ever on Tuesday evening to help the club reach a first Champions League final in almost 20 years.

The Gunners are confronted with Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final first stage and fly high after the bliting of 15 times European champions Real Madrid in the previous round.

With Liverpool after completing the Premier League title on Sunday, the Noord -London club was set to zero on their last shot on Silverware this season.

And after the impact of the raw crowd in the home leg against Real on April 8, which won Arsenal 3-0, Arteta wants more.

He said: 'It is probably one of the biggest games at the Emirates since we built it. We make history, it is now a wonderful story, but we want a lot more.

'More (noise than against Real Madrid). I don't exaggerate when I say: boys, bring your boots, bring your shorts, bring your shirts and let's play every ball together.

'If we want to do something special, that place must be something special, something we have not seen.

'I really hope that everyone who comes to the Emirates brings energy.

'The players feel it, they believe they can be better and that is what they felt against Real Madrid. You look them in the eyes and know that they can't wait to play. '

Arsenal never won the European cup and last reached the final in 2006. Now Arteta is desperate to be in the showpiece of this season in Munich on 31 May.

He added: 'It is an incredible opportunity. We are here to write history and we are very close. Now we have to let it happen. We have a huge opportunity, as club and fans, and it is about who we are and how much we want it. '

The Gunners defeated PSG 2-0 in the Emirates in the competition phase, but the form of PSG has since improved. They conquered Liverpool and Aston Villa in the last two rounds, with the side of Luis Enrique in the hope of taking their third English scalp.

He said, “I would remind you that Arsenal has not won the Champions League before and that only one of us will get the ticket to the final and I hope this will be PSG.”

Arsenal -attacker Gabriel Martinelli agreed that this is the biggest game of his career and said: 'It is a dream to be here. Since I started playing football when I was five or six, I had this dream to play in the Champions League and to be in a semi -final, it's great.

“It's the chance of our lives. We deserve to be here and our mentality is to win. '
