Arsenal Frontman Gabriel Martinelli wants to see the biggest names arriving in Arsenal while Mikel Arteta regards his summer signs with Nico Williams on the club's radar
Gabriel Martinelli insists that he enjoys the opportunity to compete against Nico Williams if Arsenal signs the winger. The Gunners are connected to Swoop for the Spaniard while they expand their summer recruitment.
Williams was one of the striking players in last summer when Spain claimed glory in Germany. The athletic Bilbao star was a constant threat of wide, but, despite the enormous interest in him, chose to stay with the San Mames.
He was able to win the Europa League this season with his hometown this season, but in the end a big step is expected to take him away from Bilbao. Arsenal could come and call while they look to add more firepower to their front line – something that would welcome Martinelli.
One of the most important problems of Mikel Arteta this season has been a reliable source of goals and they have been tipped to land a no. 9 in the coming months. Bringing in Williams would add more threats and, even though he and Martinelli play in the same position, the Brazilian wants to see the greatest talents on their way to the Emirates.
He said: “It is a match every day. The club wants the best players in the world, because it is also one of the largest in the world. We are used to it. We are a big club. We must have the best players. I will be really happy if we have big players who come to the team.”
Arsenal will hope that they can attract the tag of European champions when it comes to the recruitment of this summer with the club in the last four of the competition. It remains their only hope for silverware that had struggled for consistency in the interior, with injuries that play their role.
Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have given the order to the broad roles in recent years and both men have been associated with movements away from Arsenal. The Brazilian, who scored the winner in the Bernabeu earlier this month, insists that he has no desire to leave while he embraced the challenge to play in North Londs.
