Real Madrid confirm knee surgery for defender – Club World Cup in doubt

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger had a good chance of missing the rest of the season by suspension, but Los Blancos would have been without him because of an injury. The 32-year-old German international has undergone an operation on his knee on Tuesday, as confirmed by Real Madrid.

Rudiger has had to deal with problems in his knee throughout the season, supposedly with an arthritic problem, but it was his meniscus who gave up on Saturday night in the Copa del Rey final and went with nine minutes in extra time for Endrick Felipe. That was before he threw an ice cube to the referee from the sidelines, for which he was sent away, and is probably confronted with a long -term ban.

Los Blancos has announced that Rudiger has undergone a successful operation on a partially torn meniscus. Although they do not give him a recovery time, Diario as a report that Rudiger will probably be out for six to eight weeks, with the decision to hopefully have him ready for the Clubworld cup this summer.

If his recovery at the shorter end of that scale was, Rudiger would probably be back in time for their opening match of the tournament against Al-Hilal on June 18 in the US. If his rehabilitation extends to two months, he will also miss most of that tournament, as well as the end of the La Liga season.

It leaves Carlo Ancelotti, and his rumors interim replacement Santiago Solari in the case of the club World Cup, without an important player while trying to keep the Liga title. Aurelien Tchouameni looks like he can be called up again in the backline, although David Alaba could return next to Raul Asencio. If Tchouameni falls back, without Eduardo Camavinga, there would be a shortage in the middle of the field.
