Alan Shearer issues prediction for Arsenal vs PSG with ‘best in the world’ warning

Arsenal stands for their biggest competition of the season on Tuesday evening, while welcoming the French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the Emirates Stadium for their Semi-Final Clash of Champions League

Alan Shearer has warned Arsenal that they don't find it so easy against Paris Saint-Germain in their coming meeting. The two parties clash in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

The game – the first leg of the semi -final at the Emirates – represents the second meeting between the two teams this season. They also came together in the competition phase at the Emirates.

Arsenal illuminated a 2-0 victory that day, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka who just thought it was. And Premier League icon shearer said that this time a completely different game could take place, because both parties strive for the final.

In conversation with Betfair, he said: “PSG probably has two of the best full-backs in the world with Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi. There are so many important areas where different fights are won or lost.

“We saw Mendes against Mo Salah – we are about to see him against Bukayo Saka, both players are in incredible form, but Mendes stopped Salah. That in itself is a battle that I look forward to.

He added: “So many important fights, but both clubs will have a huge conviction that they can win this competition. From an arsenal point of view, if they can attack the game as they did against Real Madrid at home, they come at the top.

“However, I do not suspect that this will be against PSG somewhere near the same result. I think this semi-final will be a lot tighter. Having said that, the Real Madrid game would be very tight and that Arsenal came through, not easy, but they have absolutely achieved Real Madrid about two games.

“PSG has a number of really talented players, but Arsenal has been very tight all the way in terms of their defense. I commented on the group win for Arsenal in October and PSG was then a completely different team.

“Ousmane Dembele was then omitted for disciplinary reasons and Arsenal drove to a victory. I suspect that this competition will be very different.”

Arsenal already knows the potential opponents that they will take in the final if they find a route past PSG, with Barcelona or Inter Milan lurking. But for that they have to beat the French side, with the second leg of the semi -final that will take place next Wednesday in the Parc des Princes.
