Vitinha warned Paris Saint-Germain not to bother himself after their Champions League semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal, but he believes they meant some doubters with the result.
PSG had never beat Arsenal in five previous meetings, including a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium during the competition phase in October, but they went a step towards the final with a 1-0 win on Tuesday.
Ousmane Dembele scored the winner in the fourth minute; There were 26 passes in the structure of the opening goal of PSG, the most registered for them in the competition (since 2003-04).
PSG has now won five of their last seven away -out -of -stage podium matches in the Champions League (L2), just like many victories as in their previous 16 games in the competition (D2 L9).
It is a result that PSG gives a lead that will go home in the second stage next week, and Vitinha was proud of how the team worked to get the benefit.
“It is very difficult to come and win here, we saw that in October,” Vintinha told Canal+. “We played a great game, even if we didn't have the ball as usual.
“That is what great teams show. We have to adjust. We could have scored more, but we are happy with the result.
“We knew for sure that we could make such a performance. There are people who don't believe it, but we don't care. The fans are incredible. We all work together.
“It's not over yet, we have to play a great game in the Parc des Princes. No, it's not a personal revenge. It's the team. We have done a great collective performance; we showed our desire to go to the final.”
PSG had late chances to put the game out of sight, with Joao Neves, Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos who all miss great opportunities.
Ramos perhaps had the best chance when he rattled the bar in the 85th minute and contributed heavily to the 1.14 expected goals of PSG (XG).
“I am working a lot on this kind of shot [the one that hits the bar]”Ramos said post-match.” It's not over yet, there is another match to go.
“We see Arsenal in our eyes, we play our football and we have won. It is important to do everything in the game, that is football at the highest level.”
