Bayer Leverkusen -Manager Xabi Alonso has been on hold for about a month, while waiting for Real Madrid news. But more and more often it seems as if his return to the Santiago Bernabeu is getting closer.
Despite reports of a possible demolition in negotiations between Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil, it seems very likely that Ancelotti will move this summer. For some time it has been reported that Ancelotti will not be in charge of the World Cup club in June. Despite a few ties with Jurgen Klopp, it seems clear that Alonso is the man they want to replace him.
Leverkusen reportedly gave him until mid -May to solve his future in the club, but while they are looking for a successor, all signs show that Alonso leaves the club for Los Blancos. Former Club Real Sociedad was briefly connected to him, but President Jokin Aperbay referred to a possible relocation to Real Madrid for Alonso while presenting Sergio Francisco to the media, and noted that “Sergio replaced a person like Xabi Alonso (at Real Sociedad B) who replaced a world class and coach”.
As reported by Relo, Alonso is waiting for news from the Spanish capital, but has now received a positive update. The Basque manager takes over after the club World Cup in July, where director of Voetbal Santiago Solari is brought in on an interim basis. They say that Alonso has a smooth communication line with general manager Jose Angel Sanchez.
There are only 24 days between the end of the League season and the first match of Real Madrid against Al-Hilal in the club World Cup. A week will be without internationals, and it would be far from ideal to get into a tired team to work a month away from home before they say goodbye to them for vacations.
