Not for the first time this season, Paris Saint-Germain has taken a victory from one goal to a Premier League side on the European stage. The Ligue 1 champions, however, are only halfway through their semi-final tie and are confronted with the prospect of defending their slender lead against a reinforced arsenal side on the Parc des Princes next week.
After the press after the game, Luis Enrique in particular praised the defensive display of his party after taking an early lead: “If you come a rival of this level, you cannot start asking how much effort you are going to make. You need maximum effort, on and out of the ball.”
The Asturian remains are wary of the danger that Arsenal can pose next week in the Parc des Princes, because the draw remains in the balance:
“We have achieved our first goal with the result of tonight, which could have been a draw or a 2-0 victory, nobody can change the result now. The goal is now to win the next game, and we cannot take any risks, because one goal can suddenly be level again.”
“We lost at home and then we went to Anfield and won the victory – now we are ahead, but Arsenal could score themselves in Paris. They have nothing to lose, they are in the back of the draw. It will be a fascinating game for football fans, but a little more difficult for the managers.”
