Stephen Thompson calls for only striking fight with Carlos Prates
Still in the Top-15 ranking is Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson, a double UFC title day who has seen just about everything in his 21-Vecht UFC career.
It is no secret that Thompson is one of the best strikers that the Octagon has adorned, with its karate skills in the largest stage in the world for more than a decade.
The 42-year-old has lately fell at a number of difficult times, pits on stylistic nightmares on the ground such as Shavkat Rakhmonov and Belal Muhammad.
With his filling of wrestlers and grapplers, Thompson says that he is more than interested in a fight with prates, a devastating knockout outpartist.
“It will be aaaa striking extravaganza,” Thompson said today at MMA with RJ Clifford.
“I'm not Ian Garry, he's good at the wrestling. He is good at wrestling.
“Me and prates, we want the fight to stand. We want to see who is the best striker in the UFC. I think that would also be a great fight. I am completely in favor of being honest with you,” Thompson added.
Stephen Thompson has two more fights on UFC contract
Once on an 8-field undefeated line in the UFC Welterweight Division, 'Wonderboy' dropped four from his last five fights.
Thompson was eliminated for the second time in his career when he fought against top candidate Joaquin Buckley on UFC 307 in October, a fight that the striker won largely.
Now that the end of his career is approaching at the age of 42, Thompson says that he has two more fights on his UFC contract, of which he would like a fun with a fighting nerd.
“Carlos, do you want to sign the contract?” Thompson went on.
“Just draw the contract. Go out, let's have some fun. Let's set up a show. Let's hit each other in the face and then take a beer.
“Maybe a few cigarettes on your part,” Thompson said about Prates.
