Each talk about the final of the Women's Champions League is quickly silenced by Arsenal – the Side of Renee Slegers are still on a title mission.
Chelsea can become Women's Super League champions on Wednesday when they play against Manchester United, she should improve the result of Arsenal in Aston Villa better.
The two title Rivals had contrasting semi-final in Europe when Chelsea crashed with an 8-2 defeat against Barcelona, while Arsenal Lyon shocked with a 5-3 aggregated victory. Can those results wave the momentum in the run-in?
“The only thing we can do is win all the matches we still have,” Arsenal -goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar told Sky Sports before being confronted with her former club. “Of course you realize them and you keep looking at what they do, but we just have to concentrate on ourselves. That is all we influence.
“It's just us to win every game to make it as hard as possible.”
After winning 4-1 on Sunday evening in Lyon with one of the largest English side versions in Europe, Focus soon switched to Villa.
“It was unreal that we were able to win that game and how we won it,” said Van Domselaar.
“But immediately afterwards we knew that we had a competition on Wednesday. We quickly switched.
“We still want to go to the competition and keep the pressure on.”
Arsenal bloats Lyon away on their own turf with a statement victory against one of Europe's great sides. How did they produce such an amazing result?
“We were really put together. We had a clear plan. We knew what we wanted to do,” Van Domselaar added.
“That [result] Wasn't something you would expect in the first place. But I think if you saw the game, it was something that would eventually happen.
“We have such a great streak, especially in the WSL. If you take that game from Sunday, it probably gives us even more confidence that we are such a good team and that we can do that.”
When Jonas Eidevall resigned in October, the season of Arsenal was in danger, but butchers did more than just stabilizing the ship.
Her calming influence and popularity within the team helped them to bring them to the next level. Van Domselaar is full of praise for her boss.
“Many changes and things happened this year, but at the same time, when we had performed Renee, that gave us a lot of clarity,” she said.
“And actually, from that moment she gave us the confidence from the first day. So I feel that I wasn't actually many changes. It was pretty clear. Everyone was on the same page.
“Renee is really composed, really calm and gives a lot of clarity. She is really a good person to work with, quite one of us, if you said so. But all employees are the case. She is really a manager. She can manage people, manage players.
“But she has really good employees around her who help her and who also help us. In general it is exactly suitable for everyone. I would say from my experience, I am really happy with how Renee is doing and she gives that confidence to people, which is really fun.”
While Alessia Russo and Kim Little Arsenal have driven under Slegers, Van Domselaar also played more than her role.
Since he came to Aston Villa last season, the Dutch goalkeeper has held 10 clean sheets in the WSL, the second highest in the division.
“My season so far has been really good. It is really nice to play besides all these good players,” said Van Domselaar, who made 32 performances for the Netherlands. “The coaches and Rene have given me a lot of confidence from the start of the season, being injured, popping up and playing my first game against Leicester and making my way to the starting XI.
“I get that confidence from everyone. Our goalkeeper association is such a close small group and I have the feeling that we are pushing each other and we support each other very well. It is the best environment to play in and I think that is shown on the field.
“I feel really confident and we both feel really good. I am just happy that I am back on the field on Sunday and I can't wait to see what is for us.
“It was a big step for me, especially when I came to the club, I was still injured. I had to work myself in the team and get to know the team, get to know the playing style without playing really friendly games before the season started.
“So that just shows how close this club is, how supportive they are to just build me slowly in the team and to give me the confidence that I can actually do it with them on the field. It's a big difference, but it's the best choice for me, the best decision to date.”
As the title race increases, Arsenal remains focused on their goals. Chelsea is perhaps the clear favorites, but Arsenal's confidence after their impressive victory in Lyon proves that they are still very fighting.
