Arsenal disappointed largely in the first stage of their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening, with Ousmane Dembele who gave the French side a slim benefit
Arsenal star Jurrien Timber has received a gloomy 3/10 rating from L'Equipe for his performance in the defeat against PSG on Tuesday. The Gunners organized the French giants in the first stage of their semi -final of the Champions League.
The goal of Ousmane Dembele, just four minutes in the game, turned out to be the difference between the two parties. It leaves the Premier League side for a tough battle prior to next week's second stage in the Parc des Princes.
While PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was forced to get a number of rescues, disappointed Arsenal largely disappointed. That fact was not lost with the journalists of L'Equipe, who have obtained brutal assessments for the Gunners.
The French sports newspaper is notorious for its hard marking, with only 15 players in history who have achieved a perfect 10/10 rating. It is not surprising that none of the Arsenal players somewhere near that, with only three with a rating higher than 5/10.
Timber was the lowest score at only 3/10, after he had lost seven of his defending duels and had committed four mistakes. Captain Martin Odegaard, star player Bukayo Saka and midfielder Mikel Merino were also planned.
The trio all received a score of only 4/10 for their versions at the Emirates. Elsewhere, Center-back partners William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior, winger Gabriel Martinelli and forward Leandro Trossard earned from 5/10.
The only three who score higher than a five were keeper David Raya, left back Myles Lewis-Skelly and midfielder Declan Rice, all of whom were marked 6/10. That left the Gunners with an average score of only 4.8 out of 10.
Baas Mikel Arteta also failed to impress the scorers of L'Equipe, with the Spaniard a sign of only 5/10. His PSG opposite Luis Enrique, on the other hand, earned a solid 7/10 for limiting a crucial victory.
Les Parisiens only had two players to score lower than a 6/10, with Achraf Hakimi and Winger Douse Doue both handed 5/10. Captain Marquinhos, midfielder Joao Neves, defender Willian Pacho and attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia achieved points of 6/10.
Nuno Mendes, Scorer Dembele and midfielder Vitinha earned brands of 7/10. After his saves, Donnraumma achieved a score of 8/10, while midfielder Fabian Ruiz got the same as the Italian.
That left them with an average score of 6.8 out of 10 in general. Gunners -Baas Arteta insisted that his side still has the chance to get their first Champions League final since 2006, but admitted that they had disappointed.
“We are during the break. Half time and my message is exactly the same and follows us that we beat Real Madrid at home with 3-0-that we have to go to Paris and win the game. We are more than able to do it because I saw two very good teams with marges that are so small,” he said.
“They had efficiency for the goal and their keeper also made a difference to see the result we have seen tonight. He made the rescues as he did against Liverpool and Villa and that is the difference in the Champions League, the margins are so small.
“This is one of the best that all English teams beat, the best teams in this country. You can't dominate this team within 95 minutes. Impossible. Forget. You have to understand what it means that dominates and in which area of the field.”
