Real Madrid seems to be on the market for various new players this summer, and a possible arrival could come from Chelsea. But the chances that the deal is happening now seem to be quite slim.
The expected arrival of Xabi Alonso to replace Carlo Ancelotti as a manager must mean that Real Madrid makes significant changes to their first team team. Trent Alexander-Arnold will almost certainly participate from Liverpool, while there are also reports that a new central defender and midfielder could also go to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Martin Zubimendi is one of the leading goals of Real Madrid, but an alternative to him is Enzo Fernandez, as reported by the Daily Mail. The World Cup winner has been on the Radar of Los Blancos since his time on River Plate, and this summer it could be time to try to take him to the Spanish capital.
Fernandez also attracts interest from Atletico Madrid, so there is a conceivable chance that he will end up in Spain this summer. But Chelsea does not want this to happen, because they have made it clear that they have no plans to entertain offers for the Argentina International.
The 2024-25 season is the most successful so far from Fernandez since his move from 2023 to Chelsea, and he is considered a star player in the Enzo Maresca team. As such it has been decided that he is not going anywhere this summer, which will probably see Real Madrid looking elsewhere.
Fernandez was not a leading candidate to strengthen Real Madrid's option in midfield, but he was still someone they had on their agenda. Nevertheless, it will probably mean that Zubimendi is even more the target, although Arsenal is currently favorites to sign the real Sociedad -Midfender.
