Rogers was praised by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the season after blinding on the largest stage this season. The former Premier League champions gave Rogers the green light to continue without appearing a single first team for City.
“He was in the second team and sometimes trained with us, and we could see something there,” said Guardiola. “But the impact he had in Villa, what a player, we definitely had an exceptional player here.”
