Man Utd player ratings: Bruno Fernandes leads by example with towering display

Manchester United is about to have a first European final since 2021 after beautiful Athletic Club with 3-0 in Bilbao.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes ran the show in Spain to sink one of Laliga's most meaning defenses.

Ruben Amorim opted for a daring XI, because United was opposite Europe's best home showers.

Bilbao had only given 11 goals in the Estadio de San Mames throughout the season, with the Arena a kettle of noise in the early stages.

But after half a chances for the hosts, the game turned upside down after the open of Casemiro against the Run of Play.

The Brazilian led United Vooruit, with Dani Vivian controversial, sent away only a few minutes later because he had pulled Rasmus Hojlund in the box.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to roll in the Spotkick before adding the routes to the break at halftime and shot one-on-one: Agrerezabala.

Bilbao withdrew into their own half for the rest of the game and kept the score to three.

And United – so gloomy for a large part of this season – are now overwhelming favorites to reach the Europa League final.

This is how Jim Sheridan van Sunsport assessed the Red Devils in Bilbao.

Andre Onana – 6

Amorim chose to trust the error-sensitive shot stopper despite his disastrous Lyon displays.

And he looked in the early stages insured and saved brilliant from Alex Berenguer.

It turned out to be an important stop when Bilbao fell apart after he dropped to 10 men.

Athletic boss Ernesto Valverde was forced to stimulate his attacking force while the goals ruled and tried to keep the score low.

The Cameroonian was able to relax until the 94th minute, when Alvaro Djalo curled a weak Freekick right in his arms.

A welcome clean slate.

Victor Lindelof – 6

The Swede was preferred to Luke Shaw in a back three when Amorim trusted his veterans to offer stability.

And after a shaky first 15 minutes, Lindelof paid back the faith with a heroic block to deny Alex Berenguer a certain opener.

The middle behind was perfectly placed to hack the ball from the line with well -beaten Onana.

It turned out to be a turning point in the game, with United stunning the hosts with two Quickfire Goals minutes later.

Lindelof otherwise had no problems and only saw his second full 90 minutes since the beginning of March.

Harry Maguire – 7

Reports suggest that United at Maguire continues to try to discharge it after two seasons.

And maybe Amorim just has to send him permanently in advance.

The man from England started running on a beautiful Mazy over the right wing and turned his husband inside out to knock in a brilliant cross in front of Casemiro to open the score.

Maguire survived a VAR-Schrik after the break with the furious home fans who desperately call for a red card against the 32-year-old.

But it would have been incredibly hard – and Amorim quickly replaced him with Matthjis de Ligt through deaf to Jers.

Noussair Mazraoui – 7

The Moroccan was given the non -enviable task of marking Nico Williams on the United Right.

And he put an excellent shift, in which he stopped the Arsenal target before Bilbao was forced to change shape after the red card.

The 27-year-old had the last word about the first half and took a brilliant ride from the edge of the box against the bar.

He patrol the right flank with authority, Pocket Williams, who had a stinker.

Leny Yoro – 7

The teenager lost Inaki Williams completely for an early header that the net should have hit.

That led to an earful from Casemiro, who has barked the entire backline to switch off.

Yoro no longer made the same mistake, in which Bilbao was eventually forced to bump and play their attacking options to keep the score low after 3-0.

The 19-year-old looked in possession when United walked around the field in the second half. A class act and can only improve.

Patrick Dorgu – 7

The signing of January almost worked as a left wing in the early stages and pushed miles onto the field to get involved in attacks.

But it left the Dane isolated on the counterattack – and Berenguer had a field day in the first 20 minutes.

With more space that was offered when the hosts fell for ten men, the full-back suddenly came to life.

And he enjoyed a number of strong runs on the flank while the hosts held up for 3-0.

Casemiro – 8

The most experienced man on the field, the Brazilian knows how to be in the right place at the right time.

He looked a bit exaggerated by Bilbao's ruthless prints in the opening fairs, where the home fans made a remarkable roar.

But the midfielder was in the perfect place to provide power to a bullet header along Julen Agrerezabala and to open the score.

He made almost 4-0 in the second half and sent a free header against the post.

Look more like the player who thought United she was drew – now they have stopped trying to play everything by him.

Manuel Ugarte – 6

It was a horror show for the first 30 minutes of the Uruguayan, who had picked his bag early in a dangerous area by Berenguer.

Onana saved the midfielder on that occasion with a smart save.

But Ugarte kept giving the ball away in crucial areas.

Although he was a liability in his own half, he somehow walked back in the dressing room with two assists during the break.

The first a glider to set up Casemiro from Maguire's Cross, the other a wonderful film to unleash Fernandes.

United may have to treat the unpredictable side of Ugarte if they want to see the best of him in the long term.

It can be a gamble that is worth taking.

Bruno Fernandes – 9

The skipper said before this competition that the season of United would not be saved by winning the Europa League.

Whether he believes that or not, the Portuguese playmaker led the good example in the Basque Cauldron.

He stepped up for a long time to take a fine of the first half despite the deafening sound, so that the keeper stuttered in the wrong direction after a brutal stuttering.

And immediately after the break there was no one else who would like to go one-on-one if you were forwarded to goal.

These are now 37 target contributions in all competitions for the often malignant No. 10 this season.

He has almost united on his own, according to the advantage of unexpected European glory – a towering version.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7

The Argentinian was a threat to the off and ended brilliantly within five minutes to be met alone through the offside flag.

Everything well from United in the first half hour was due to the difficult wing player.

And he consistently had full-back Yuri Berchiche.

Garnacho could only watch while Maguire chanted his inner Lamine Yamal just before the break.

But the only stain was – again – unable to engage with a goal or an assist.

These are now 2 goals in his last 32 performances in all competitions.

Rasmus Hojlund – 6

The Shot-Shy Dane was commissioned to score Europe along the meanest home defense.

And even though he struggled for accents and shots again, he muscle side by Dani Vivian to rightly win United's fine.

As the norm has become, the £ 72 million men finished his socks with little end product.

He only succeeded in four details in the Bilbao box – and failed to take shots away. A well -known story.

Replacement

Matthijs de Ligt (65 ') – Solid as a rock, even though it is not much to do from the bank. Good to see him again. 6

MASON Mount (65 ') – It took only a few seconds to leave his mark and hit Inaki Williams shortly after the rise. Clearly likes to make an impression, but was unnecessarily booked for the expiry of Mikel Jauregizar. 6

Luke Shaw (74 ') – A strong trip to the left almost peed garnacho for a fourth. 7

Kobbie Mainoo (84 ') – Kleine Camee for the midfielder of England again, did what he had to do in the final phase. 6

AMAD DIALLO (84 ') – A welcome return to action for the Ivorian, which has been out since February. Some neat details and looked sharp. 6
