Real Madrid talked to their interest in Arsenal Center Back William Saliba, but Mikel Arteta has said that he is sure that the France star is happy in North London
Mikel Arteta has said that he is “very confidence” that William Saliba will remain in Arsenal after this summer in the midst of Real Madrid's transfer interest. Reports in Spain have connected Madrid to a movement for the center-back of France, but Arteta is sure that one of his star men is very happy in North London with Arsenal who plays every interest.
“I leave things like that more for Andrea (Berta) and the club to talk about. What I am sure because I have the conversation with him is that he is so happy here, he wants to continue with us.
“What will happen in the future is always something that takes time and process and is on top of them. But I am convinced that William is very happy here and that is the place where he wants to be.”
Arteta said that Kai Havertz could return to Arsenal before the end of the season in a huge injury boost for the Gunners.
The Germany attacker has been out with a hamstring injury since January and it was initially believed that he would miss until the start of the following season.
But his recovery went well and Arteta thinks Havertz could be back later this month with Arsenal who is still dreaming of a Champions League final.
“I think so. If everything goes on the road at the moment and it is planned that he gets the chance to play a few more games this season,” said Arteta, before he adds that he hopes that Jorginho can also return a problem that has kept him aside for several weeks.
Arsenal host Bournemouth on Saturday evening, knowing that a victory would guarantee anything but the Champions League qualification next season.
And with the second stage of their semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain to come next week, with the French side who led 1-0 after their first minute, Arteta said he will talk to his players about not distracted to the cherries.
“The only thing we can control are our versions, emotional state,” he said. “There are still many things we want to do in the Premier League.”
