The Scotland International has found its place in Napoli during the second half of the season.
“My favorite thing in Naples should definitely be the weather. From the UK you don't see much sun, but the weather is really nice here,” he told Lega Serie A.
“I think the language is the greatest cultural shock. I can speak and understand more. I was told that I should not listen to songs if I am going to learn Italian well. I just heard a few songs in the dressing room and was told that they are Napolitan.
“My expectation here was to try something new.
“The Premier League is excellent, but the opportunity came forward, so I decided to come here and experience something new. I think that until you actually play it, you do not understand how difficult the competition is and how tactical you should be.
“The ultimate goal for players is to win as many trophies as possible, and I think playing in Naples, I have the chance to do that.”
Conte pushes you maximum
When working with Napoli coach Antonio Conte, Gilmour was exuberant.
He continued: “I had Conte when I was younger. I only trained with him a few times. But now that I work with him every day, he is very intense, the standards are always high and he pushes you to the maximum.
“For us as a team we know that it is good for us and we are trying to do our best this season.”
