Bayern Munich was held into a dramatic 3-3 draw to RB Leipzig on MatchDay 33 of the Bundesliga, who gave an equalizer in stopping time and missed the opportunity to secure the league title with two more games.
The most important focus of the game was not one of the players on the field, but rather Bayern's star striker Harry Kane, who missed the game because of the suspension after collecting too many yellow cards. As is well known, Kane has never won a big trophy in his professional career. A Bayern victory today would finally have ended that long-term curse. But only 11 minutes in the game was Bayern with a backlog of 0-1. The broadcast cameras quickly pledged to Kane in the stands, where it seemed visibly tense and serious.
In the 40th minute, Leipzig scored again to bring the score to 2-0. Again, the cameras found Kane – and this time it looked completely empty.
But things quickly turned around in the second half. Bayern scored two goals in a minute to level the score and later took the lead with a late goal from Leroy Sané. At that moment Kane seemed happy with the stands and clearly felt that his first title could finally be within reach.
While the game came in the stop time, Kane could not hide his expectation. He walked to the touchline and eagerly waited for the last whistle.
In the dying seconds of the match, however, Leipzig scored a dramatic equalizer. The cameras returned to Kane – his expression now a complex mix of emotions. Although Bayern still has the advantage in the title race, there would be no parties for Kane today.
