Mascherano ignoring outside noise after Inter Miami snap losing streak

Javier Mascherano feels the frustration of Inter Miami supporters but wants to ignore the external noise, the head coach said after breaking a three-game Losing Streak on Sunday.

Miami has undergone a tough run and lost both legs of their Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final against the Vancouver WhiteCaps, and suffered from their first competition defeat of the season and went to FC Dallas.

However, the side of Mascherano offered a timely memory of their quality, but after thrashing the New York Red Bulls 4-1 in the Chase Stadium.

Fafa Picault, Marcelo Weigandt and Luis Suarez were all on goal before Lionel Messi laid a dominant version and Miami lifted to the fourth in the classification of the Eastern Conference.

“It is clear that in everything we compete we try to reach the highest possible position. We have shown this in the champions [Cup]”said Mascherano.

“Sometimes we have to understand that you have an opponent; the opponent is playing. Sometimes the opponent does better, as Vancouver did.

“Sometimes public opinion is to analyze the results. We analyze more than the results: the content, the why.

“I understand that there is a lot of frustration. The one who is most frustrated, I, the coaching staff and the players, who cannot go to the final.”

His half-volley finish turned out to be a suitable end to a New York routes, making Mascherano relieved with a much needed victory.

“We needed this victory after three defeats, and to have some very good feelings again,” Mascherano added.

“In the first half we had an effectiveness that we didn't have in different games, not just that we had a lot [goalscoring] situations.

“And then in the second half we tried to better manage the ball, to better manage the ball, to better control the game, not to be that direct.

“The last 15, 20 minutes of the first half we lost the possession of the ball, they grew and they progressed on the field, and we tried to prevent them from giving control of the game.”

Although the Club World Cup and the Leagues Cup are on the horizon, Mascherano wants Miami to retain full focus on their MLS campaign.

“We will try to keep doing our best. We will try to learn from our mistakes. And we will continue to say that this team can compete, and we will see everything that comes to us,” he continued.

“Today we are here to concentrate on MLS, they try to reach at the top of this conference, and then we will see what is happening with the Club World Cup, Leagues Cup.

“The most important game I said from the start is the next, and so we will concentrate next weekend.”
