Paqueta breaks down in tears after being booked against Tottenham

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta broke into tears after he was shown a yellow card during the 1-1 draw on his side with Tottenham on Sunday.

Paqueta, 27, was booked by referee Michael Oliver after the pollution of Mikey Moore to stop a counterattack in the 73rd minute at the London Stadium.

But cameras then showed him that he used his shirt to wipe his eyes after an emotional reaction to caution – and he was soon withdrawn by Baas Graham Potter.

Youngster Moore seemed to have flooded the ball before he was caught by Paqueta and the referee considered the challenge worthy as a yellow card.

Irritated by the decision, Paqueta began to wave frustration with his arms. Oliver then called him to warn him of his behavior, but he refused to move.

Several of his teammates were quickly on site to calm him down and Paqueta was eventually persuaded to the civil servant.

There was a short break in the game, while the playmaker wanted to put himself together.

Mail Sport reported last month that Paqueta's FA Spot-fixing hearing was not closed during the three-week period of time originally hoped and he is now forced to wait a few weeks until the case restarts.

He has fought to prove that he is innocent in picking up yellow cards in order to influence the bet results and is confronted with a lifelong ban if he is found guilty.

Sources said that the unrest is mentally burdened on Paqueta, who has long maintained his innocence against the charges of the FA.

The hearing started on March 17 and was planned for possibly the past three weeks.

However, due to the large amount of evidence that is evaluated, it is clear that at least a fourth week is necessary, with individuals near the case who say they are now stuck during a break. It is assumed that it can only be resumed in June.

Potter insisted that there was nothing undesirable about Paqueta's reaction to his booking.

“No, not really,” he said. 'I thought he and Tomas [Soucek] Were just a bit tiring.

“They should have experienced a lot of work. I didn't talk about that incident.

'There is no problem from my perspective. Sometimes players get a little upset when things don't go their way. But he recovers well. He's no problem. '
