Xabi Alonso arrival places new midfielder amongst Real Madrid options

Real Madrid is already preparing for the arrival of Xabi Alonso this summer, something that was talked about in September when Carlo Ancelotti did not achieve success this season. However, there was less expectation that it would mean such a big commotion in terms of their transfer window.

Ancelotti has already agreed an exit deal with Real Madrid and after Trent had announced Alexander-Arnold that he was leaving Liverpool, he will be the first reinforcement for Alonso. The Post-Toni Kroos is struggling average and their defensive injury record means that at least two more recruits are expected in the summer.

Los Blancos had hoped that Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde would be sufficient to fill the emptiness of Kroos, but it has become clear that this is not the case. Real Madrid has difficulty controling games and would like to bring in a midfielder who is able to continue the ball effectively.

According to Cadena Cope, that midfielder could be Valencia talent Javi Guerra. The 21-year-old was chased last summer by Bayer Leverkusen, with Alonso as his most important lawyer in Germany. Now that Alonso arrives in the Santiago Bernabeu and Real Madrid would like to sign more Spanish players, Guerra is an option that has been discussed and is on the table for Los Blancos.

City rivals Atletico Madrid were at the point of Guerra last summer, agreed with a deal for a relocation of € 25.5 million plus € 5 million in variables. He was the preferred option for the current director of Football Carlos Bucero, but Atletico signed Conor Gallagher instead. They remain interested in Guerra and can move again for him, although the Valencia man also has admirers in Italy, England and the Bundesliga.

Guerra has returned to form under Carlos Corberan, after he was viewed by Newcastle United and Manchester United earlier in the season. So much was clear at the Santiago Bernabeu in April, when his looting through midfield helped when setting up the stopping time winner of Valencia against Los Blancos. He played an important role in the revival of Los Che under Corberan, scored three times, helped three times and make 33 League performances.
