Inter Milan and Barcelona played one of the best semi-final ever Champions League, in which the Italian giants eventually won a 7-6 victory over aggregated above Hansi Flick's Side
Alan Shearer greeted both Inter Milan and Barcelona for playing their role in a classic semi -final of the Champions League. After an exciting 3-3 draw in the first stage in Catalonia, Barca traveled to the San Siro on Wednesday evening for the reverse fixture.
Lautaro Martinez placed Inter after 21 minutes, before Hakan Calhanoglu scored from the penalty spot to put Inter 5-3 for aggregated. But Eric Garcia came in to withdraw Barca shortly after the break to the game.
Dani Olmo went into an equalizer at the hour before Raphinha shot with just three minutes to swing the draw in favor of Barca. But in the third minute of the added time, Centrum-Back Francesco Acerbi hit a remarkable one.
That goal sent the game in extra time and disappeared with nine minutes, Davide Fratesi replaced it for the Italian giants, when he curled a beautiful left shot in the bottom corner.
Inter keeper Yann Sommer was still forced to get a series of remarkable saves to hold his way. But they have now reached their second Champions League final in three years, with Shearer speechless.
“Thanks Inter Milan and thanks Barcelona for providing incredible entertainment and two great football matches. What we have seen has been something very special,” he said in commentary for Amazon Prime.
“The resilience has been brilliant by Inter. They were out of this competition. They suddenly fight themselves back in the game and Davide Fratesi Slots that ball in the far corner.”
Inter-star Denzel Dumfries admitted that she remained out of breath because of the classic of all time, but was happy that his side booked their place in the final of Munich. He said Prime: “Crazy Match, again seven goals today.
“It was incredible, we fought to the end, but very proud of the way we fought today. In general, we are very happy that we are going to the final. I am very happy to help the team. I am coming back from an injury, so it was not easy.
“We have to fight every game for the colors of the club. Two years ago we lost the final – we know that everything is possible. This year we are fighting and we have goals. Tomorrow we will see which team we have in the final.”
Barca boss Hansi Flick admitted that he was deeply saddened that his side had been poured out, although they greeted their performance. The German said: “I am very disappointed that we are gone – but I am not disappointed about the performance of my team. They tried everything.
“We are gone, but next year we will start again and we will make our fans, the club and everyone around us happy. [Inter] Are a really good team, a strong team that defends well, but they also have a really good striker.
“We were really good in the second half. I don't want to talk about the referee, but every 50/50 decision was for them. We gave everything, but in the end it was so and that made me a bit sad.”
