Aston Villa’s Tielemans could miss the rest of the season with a muscle injury

Aston Villa Star Youri Tielemans could miss the rest of the season with a muscle injury, according to a report.

The Belgian has been an important gear in the midfielder for Unai Emery and has delivered various crucial versions for the Villans in their search for Champions League qualification, including his match-winning contribution against Fulham last weekend.

According to the Athletic this season, the 28-year-old, who has recorded this season in every Premier League match, cannot be available this season for Villa's remaining collisions against Bournemouth, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Villa is currently seventh in the Premier League, three points behind Newcastle and Chelsea in the fourth and fifth place respectively.

Emery's side probably has to win all three games to secure Champions League football.

This period, Tielemans, who came to the club in 2023 on a free transfer from Leicester, has made 52 performances and registered five goals and 10 assists.

His injury is the second big blow in a matter of weeks before the West Midlands outfit, after the hamstring problem that is expected to keep the on-Loan Manchester United Marcus Rashford out until the end of the campaign.

This week, Villa was furiously left by the decision of the Premier League to put forward their match against Spurs by 48 hours, accusing the administrative body of 'clear prejudices'.

Villa's last match at home this season was switched from 2.15 pm on May 18 – a Sunday – until 7.30 pm on May 16, prior to the possible participation of Spurs on the Europa League final on 21 May.

The switch would give Tottenham more time to prepare for that fixture, which could only bring them this century and their first in Europe since 1984 their second trophy and their first in Europe.

But Villa believes that little attention has been paid to their own attempts to finish in the top five and qualify for the Champions League – nor to their supporters who may now have to change plans in the short term, with the game on a notice period of just 10 days.

Villa Chief Monchi said: 'The change in Tottenham's match is not what we wanted. We had no right to keep it and we got the least harmful alternative.

'Our fans did not earn it, but we tried hard to keep the competition to protect the most important thing for us: you and our team. We need you Friday. '
