Match report
After won 3-0 last week at San Mames in the first stage, the Red Devils were lagging behind at the break to the fantastic long-distance effort of Mikel Jauregizar on Old Trafford on Thursday.
Replacement mount calmed a Cagey version with a beautiful finish with just under 20 minutes left, but before Casemiro had the hosts ahead.
Hojlund's close-range effort preceded Mount and put the icing on the cake to complete a 7-1 aggregated triumph, and the men of Ruben Amorim can now look forward to the final in San Mames against Premier League-Rivalen Tottenham on 21 May.
Alex Berenguer had twice bent shots wide by the time that Athletic took the lead after a provisional opening of the hosts.
Alvaro Djalo saw his shot blocked after a sad misplaced pass by Harry Maguire, but Jauregizar took the loose ball and curled a lush effort in the upper right corner from 25 meters, 31 minutes.
Alejandro Garnacho cut off widely after he had been slid in brilliant by Patrick Dorgu shortly before the break, while Unai Nunez led a header just halfway through a second half in which United swose.
But Mount ensured that the home fans found their voice again with a beautifully invented finish in the right corner in turn to make Athletic climb a mountain too high.
And when Casemiro – goal scorer in the first stage – the free -kick house of Bruno Fernandes thirds, the work was done for United.
Then they added more shine, when Amad Diallo's cut-back of the name rule could not be missed by Hojlund two meters out, and Mount Lobbed from long distance with Julen Agrerezabala well from his line deep in the injury.

It was a wonderful moment for Mount, whose injury problems were well documented, and his goal represented the first shot of United on the goal of the match.
Indeed, their failure to have a shot in the first half in the first half was the first time they had done this in Europe since March 2023 against Real Betis in the Europa League.
The Red Devils have scored seven goals through replacements in this season's Europa League, only improved a count by AZ's Acht, while Hojlund scored his sixth goal of the competition, but his first since the nets against Viktoria Plzen on December 12.
Athletic has made a brave effort and had shot United briefly with Jauregizar who scored his first Europa League goal at the age of 11.
Their task was not helped by the absence of Oihan Sancet (two), Inaki Williams (five) and Nico Williams (five), who had contributed to Athletic before the kick-off, 57% of the Europa League objectives (12/21).
