Hansi Flick urged his Barcelona players to stay focused while they are closer to conquering the LaLala title with an exciting 4-3 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday.
Flick watched while Kylian Mbappe scored twice in the first 14 minutes to give Madrid breathing space, but the Blaugrana responded emphatically.
Eric Garcia withdrew one for Barca before a stunning finish from Lamine Yamal recovered parity at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company.
But the first half was not done there. Raphinha yielded twice in 11 minutes to act a pillow with two goals during the break.
Indeed, with six goals scored by the interval, this was the Clasico with the joint goals of the first half, in addition to matches in February 1935 and January 1943.
Mbappe took his hat trick with 20 minutes from the remains, but Barca navigated an end-to-end finish to continue their dominance in this legendary fixture.
The Flick team is now seven points free from Madrid and have defeated four times this season in all competitions,
They could already secure the title on Wednesday if their Clasico rival Mallorca did not beat in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Regardless of Madrid's midweek result, a Barca victory in their city derby against Espanyol would conquer a 28th title of the Top-Flight on Thursday.
“I don't feel that we are champions yet, and I believe my players think in the same way,” Flick said a press conference.
“It would be nice to win the Liga and Copa del Rey Double and, yes, one victory is enough for us to do it. But this is football.
“Of course, we are in a good position, but you never know what will happen. We have three games for us and all our rivals want to beat ourselves, so we have to stay focused.”
Flick also praised his players for their resilience in the fight after Mbappe's Early Strikes, making him the best scoring player for Madrid in a debut season for the club (he ended the match for 39 goals for the campaign).
“It was not easy to recover after he had fallen 2-0, but the mentality of the team is simply remarkable, how they always want to attack relentlessly,” said Flick.
“It's nice to see them there on the field.”
The result followed on Barca's heartbreaking extra time loss that saw them leave the Champions League in the semi-final of the competition.
And Flick's team was worthy of their victory and ended the match with an expected goals (XG) a total of 4.21 to 2.66 from Madrid.
The Barca boss praised the victory as an explanation of the grit and resilience of his players and said: “It is fantastic. And it all has to do with training, how they compete with each other.
“You can see it in the training sessions. In the past four months it has not been easy because of the relentive schedule. I am proud of the mentality and attitude of my team.”
Flick also took the time to praise Yamal for his beautiful display, where the teenager registered different team -high totals in the competition statistics.
Yamal indeed had more successful dribbles (four), more shots on Target (five) and won has more times (seven) than one of his teammates.
Yamal, besides Pedri, Raphinha and Ferran Torres, also created three opportunities, a joint-game totally totally next to Madrid's Vinicius Junior.
“He is doing great. He has faith in himself. He is also very smart,” said Flick about Yamal. “For me it is important that he looks ahead after the games.
“His goal was crucial and at the age of 17 he has so many qualities. It's just great to have him in the neighborhood.”
