Robertson launches passionate defence of Liverpool team-mate Alexander-Arnold

Andy Robertson admitted that it hurt him to see teammate and friend Trent Alexander-Arnold are booed by the Anfield-Versigte on Sunday while praising the departing full-back.

Alexander-Arnold has confirmed last week that he made the decision to land the Reds with the Englishman who is expected to come to Real Madrid in the summer.

The announcement was not well received by fans of Liverpool and they announced their feelings on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold started on the bench against the Gunners, but was caused in the second half.

Angry brought the ground while he went to the field before she started singing the name of his Understudy Conor Bradley.

“There is clearly a lot of emotion around it,” Robertson said after the 2-2 draw.

'I think it is crucial at these moments that I don't tell you how to think about it and you don't tell me how to think about it. All I can tell you is how I think about it.

'First of all, I am disappointed to lose my best size, we did it all together. He is a great player and a great person.

“He made me a better player and that comes from the bottom of my heart. He brought me to levels that I never knew existed.

He kept pushing me through the good years and he made a choice. I think his estate in the club is there for everyone to see. The trophies he has won, the moments he has had in history, will always be there.

'It is of course an emotional decision and it has not been easy. He has made the decision and it is not nice to see that a friend is being booed, but as I said, we cannot tell people how to act.

'I can tell you how I feel, I am extremely proud of what he did for the club. I love him as a friend and player and he will be missed for me as one of my best friends in the game. '
