Arsenal fought back from two goals to draw 2-2 with champions Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta's side licked their wounds after their Champions League -Knock -out by PSG and fluctuated after two goals in the space of a minute.
Cody Gakpo nodded home Andy Robertson's inch-Perfect cross to open the score before Luis Diaz extended to puncture Home Dominik Szoboszlai's ball just a few seconds later.
But the visitors stem from the half-time restart as another team and halved the shortage when Gabriel Martinelli sent a neat header in the far corner of Alisson.
Then they made part of the loot, Mikel Merino responded the fastest to nod a rebound home after the powerful strike by Martin Odegaard on the Alisson Pile. Merino was then sent before Robertson saw a final gasp winner did not last.
Lewis Steele from Mail Sport was in Anfield to judge both sets of players …
Liverpool (4-2-3-1)
Alisson – 6
Could not do much about the goals of Arsenal, especially the second when he made a fantastic salvation to give an Odegaard on the bar, but could do little to the rebound.
Conor Bradley – 7.5 (booked)
Was excellent in the first half, starting with a creaking tackle on Martinelli after 46 seconds and then some looting runs along the right flank. Not completely fit, so could only play 66 minutes.
Ibrahima Konate – 7
His distribution gets better through the game and made some Canny here, but was stately and let Martinelli run free and score a goal for 2-1.
Virgil van Dijk – 6
Was good on the challenge of Trossard in the first half, but Martinelli as a no. 9 After the break, Liverpool gave some problems.
Andy Robertson – 7
Turned back the years in the first half with a number of threatening runs along the left flank and gakpo set up for his opener. Will have his eyes on the record of Alexander-Arnold for most assists of a defender.
Ryan Gravenberch – 6.5
Stylish performance as always with a number of smart accents.
Curtis Jones – 7
The game started extremely well with a beautiful pass to Salah. It was almost punished for messing around with the ball in his own box at 15 minutes.
Mohamed Salah – 6
Nothing he tried came off, despite the fact that he kept trying. Not his day for the goal and sometimes took one touch too much.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7.5
Hard work to bring the Liverpool stand in the first half and never stopped running. Another pleasant version.
Cody Gakpo – 7
Missed a number of big opportunities in the opening phase with a poor finish, but made it good to set up Liverpool with 1-0. Silent in the second half.
Luis Diaz – 7
In the right place at the right time to bring the score to 2-0 and had a very pleasant version, especially in the first half.
Replacement
Alexis Mac Allister (for Gakpo, 66min) – 6
Trent Alexander -Arnold (for Bradley, 66min) – 6
Darwin Nunez (for Jones, 66min) – 5
Diogo Jota (for Diaz, 78min)
Harvey Elliott (for Gravenberch, 83min)
Not used: Caoimhin Kelleher, Wataru Endo, Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas.
Manager
Arne Slot – 6.5
The first half was one of the best of the season. The second half was one of the worst.
Arsenal (4-3-3)
David Raya – 6
Could not do anything about the goals of Liverpool and made a number of other major saves to keep his side in the competition. Distribution was bad.
Ben White – 5
Had a tough afternoon against Gakpo and Diaz who often exchanged positions.
William Saliba – 6
Switched off and let Gakpo sneak pretty and make it 1-0. Better after the break.
Jakub Kiwior – 7
Had a pleasant version against the multiple attackers from Liverpool, especially for Lewis-Skelly to double Salah.
Myles Lewis -Skelly – 6 (booked)
Some nice details and were good on Salah.
Martin Odegaard – 7.5
Could have won the game in the 95th minute, but had gained a shot wide. Otherwise a brilliant version, especially in the second half.
Thomas Partey – 6
After 15 minutes, his lines rumbled when she presented a golden opportunity in the penalty area.
Mikel Merino – 6 (sent)
Early booked for a nasty challenge on Bradley, a second yellow was then shown after the break for two errors in the same incident. However, his goal was like a typical No. 9 – in the right place at the right time with a clinical finish.
Bukayo Saka – 7.5
Could have opened the score with the first set piece of the game and extremely smart but picked his lines and shot wide. Robertson gave a difficult test all afternoon.
Leandro Trossard – 7
Just like Partey, he should have scored after 15 minutes. Otherwise had some nice moments, such as the cross for the goal of Martinelli.
Gabriel Martinelli – 7.5
A lush header for 2-1 and a big shift in the second half in a big shift. However, bad in the first 45 minutes.
Replacement
Riccardo Calafiori (for White, 78min)
Kieran Tierney (for Trossard, 78min)
Oleksandr Zinchenko (for Saka, 88min)
Not used: Neto, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Jack Henry-Francis, Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling, Jurrien Timber.
Manager
Mikel Arteta – 7
His tactical tweaks and replacements helped to fight Arsenal and then see a draw.
