Manchester United dropped to a new low point on Sunday with a defeat at home at West Ham.
The result left United only two places above the relegation zone and Ruben Amorim who interviewed his own future in Old Trafford.
A glance at some of the unwanted records that United has determined this season can explain why …
It is officially the worst Premier League season of Man Utd
The defeat of Man Utd against West Ham leaves them at 39 points with two games to play.
Even if they won their last two games, they could not end up higher than 13th. That is five places worse off than their previous lowest finish in the Premier League – eighth in 2023/24.
The lowest points of United ever for a Premier League season is 58 in 2021/22. United will now guarantee that record with at least 13 points.
Rock at the bottom of the form table
It was bad for the entire season – but if the Premier League started six games ago, Man Utd would go down.
Their shape at that time ranks together the bottom of the table, together with degraded Southampton and Ipswich, who also picked up two points and zero profits.
The Amorim effect?
Amorim had an immediate impact when he took over in his previous two jobs, at Braga and Sporting CP. Although he was only at the first for nine league games in 2019/20, he won eight and pulled the other.
At Sporting, he took over a faltering side in the middle season, but took six victories and three draw from the last 11 games of the club, getting almost two points per game.
He also made a change to the results of Man Utd – Ten Kwade. Already started with a low ebb and shape that was bad enough to dismiss Erik ten Hag, the points per match of United have fallen since Amorim walked through the door.
A ninth defeat in Old Trafford this season …
The loss for the hammers also means that United has suffered their joint number of defeats of the competition in one season and their most since 1962/63.
Man Utd was already at their worst defeats in a Premier League season before Sunday's game, after he had previously lost 14 games under Erik ten Hag last season.
Doctor Man Utd?
Over, Tottenham Hotspur. There is a new doctor in the city. Amorim's United helped West Ham an end to an eight-game Winless Run on Old Trafford on Sunday, where they only secure their second Premier League doubles about Man Utd.
It is also not the first time that they have started an opponent in life. Back in Amorim's early weeks, a 3-2 home defeat against Nottm Forest finished a point of three defeats in front of Nuno Espirito Santo and inspired them at a point of seven victories of their next eight games.
Two months without a competition gain
While United has moved to the Europa League final, which offers a route back to the Champions League, they have not won in the Premier League for the past two months. Their last victory was in Leicester on March 16.
Indeed, if you ignore their matches against the teams that are already relegated from the Premier League, United has won one of their last 17 Premier League matches-with their only calendar year overlooking on a team in the Premier League of next season as a 1-0 success about Fulham on January 26.
Anyway, the fact is that United is currently going through their joint-long Windless Run in the Premier League.
Where are the goals?
United has not scored this season in 14 Premier League matches – Only Southampton (15), Everton (15) and Leicester (16) have emptied more.
It has been worse since Amorim took over – they have not succeeded in scoring in 10 of the 25 league games under his management and have only found the back of the net 30 times.
That is once more than Goal-Shy Everton, or the winners West Ham from Sunday.
From the days of Andy Cole, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney to the fifth lowest scorers in the division.
But it should be better
No one who has seen Man Utd this season would stay, they are quite running in the last third part, but, according to their expected goals, they must at least be in the mid-table for scored goals.
In fact, they are the second largest underperformers compared to their XG in the Premier League after Crystal Palace, after they have found the back of the net more than eight times less than the statistics suggest that they should.
Sunday's defeat was on the second worst show for the goal of the season, with an XG of 2.23, but failed to beat Alphonse Areola once.
And if you can't score … don't admit
Nor can United keep a clean slate. This season they admitted the first goal in an Old Trafford match this season – the most ever in a Premier League season.

The boss looked irritated that his players found it easier to go up for a 'big' game compared to matches that needed more self -motivation.
They would not be the first side to play better against better teams. But it did not take – Man Utd won only two of the 18 games this season against the top half of opposition.
It is better against teams in the bottom half, but still do not make a good reading. Of the eight games they won against the teams in the bottom 10, five of them have come against the three degraded parties.
Their home defeat against West Ham was their seventh loss for a lower half opponent from 18 games.
