PSG respond to Mohamed Salah transfer links and make feelings clear on move
Paris Saint-Germian has denied contact with Mohamed Salah over a move to the Parc des Princes.
Salah is in the final few months of his contract at Anfield and suggested he is 'more out than in' when it comes to extending his stay. “Honestly, it's in my head,” Salah added after Liverpool's latest win over Manchester City.
“So far this is the last City game I'm playing for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I'm going to enjoy every second of it here. Hopefully we just win the league and see what happens is going to happen.”
There has been previous interest from the Saudi Pro League, while PSG have also been linked in some parts of the media. However, the French club believes the Egyptian camp is still eyeing a new Liverpool deal.
According to L'Equipe, PSG are happy with their new approach of choosing a collective over superstars. This has seen Neymar and Kylian Mbappe leave the Parc des Princes over the past two summer spells, bringing in young and hungry players.
Luis Enrique's team have quickly distanced themselves from a transfer, despite Salah being able to speak to potential candidates in January. He could still reach a pre-contractual agreement with a new club and leave on a free transfer at the end of June.
In November, Salah claimed he had not received an offer to stay at Anfield beyond this season. However, if the latest reports in France are to be believed, Salah's camp are still hoping that the public comments could lead to Liverpool giving their top scorer what he wants.
Salah's agent Ramy Abbas Issa has spoken out about the 32-year-old's future. “You just don't know,” he wrote on social media in January amid reports that Salah was in favor of a move to Spain.
“FYI, all those 'journalists' suggesting they have 'inside knowledge' about Mohamed's future are just making claims/posts based on absolutely nothing,” he added in September as new rumors began to emerge circulate. “Just click ******. 'Sources close to Mohamed' do not exist. This message is really just to tell you that they don't know.”
Despite the speculation, Salah continued to perform on the pitch. His goal from the penalty spot against Manchester City was his 11th of the season in the Premier League, just one behind top scorer Erling Haaland, while his assist for Cody Gakpo was a seventh in 13 league games.
Reds boss Arne Slot has stressed that the uncertainty surrounding Salah's contract is far from a distraction, however. “All I can say is that when I look at my line-up, Mo is more in than out. So I can give you that quote,” he said before the win over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
