Kamaru Usman expresses disappointment following Belal Muhammad’s UFC 315 title loss

At UFC 315 last Saturday, Kamaru Usman probably saw a guaranteed title fight out of his grip when his grip was when the title of Belal Muhammad came to an end.

Jack della Maddalena was crowned the new UFC Welterweight Champion on UFC 315 last Saturday after dominating a five round war against Belal Muhammad.

After the main event, UFC boss Dana White revealed the injuries that Mohammed sustained, including a broken nose, a broken orbital bone, and he split his lip from top to bottom, probably required surgery.

The performance of Muhammad was criticized and he was eventually roasted by UFC star Khamzat Chimaev, who enjoyed his defeat.

Kamaru Usman disappointed about the UFC title of Muhammad

With 'Remember the name' Reign Dested not even a year, he could not defend his title against one of the top 170 pounds of contenders, one of which is former champion, Kamaru Usman.

Usman and Muhammad have a constant feud after Muhammad claimed that he was crying Usman during an appearance on his podcast.

Prior to his title fight against Della Maddalena, Muhammad claimed that Usman could skip the line in terms of earning a title shot because of their feud, if he retained his title on UFC 315.

But now with the title of Belal that has come to an end, 'the Nigerian nightmare' has expressed his disappointment.

“Why would I be happy that he lost, I hadn't fought him yet,” Usman responded to Henry Cejudo during a recent episode of their podcast.

“Me and he were not the best friends, I will certainly tell you that, but that does not mean that I am happy that he is lost.

“We didn't love each other, it was still something that people wanted to see, it was something about potential happen, so no, I am not enthusiastic that he lost,” Usman went on.

Usman believes that Mohammed's arrogance could have led to UFC 315

Prior to the fight, Mohammed claimed that he would not struggle the Australian boxer, and stated that he wanted to show off with his 'Canelo Hands' and show his striking.

Usman believes that the arrogance of Muhammad in wanting to show off with his striking led to his downfall, claiming that he underestimates the heart of Della Maddalena.

“He was almost negative … (Della Maddalena) looked like the defending champion … I just felt like (Mohammed), I don't want to say that there was an arrogance, but it was almost so, just grin and picked it up … he wasn't changing and didn't really try,” Usman continued.

Despite the fact that Mohammed lost his title, a fight between he and Usman could still flourish later this year, regardless of the result of Usman's upcoming fight against Joaquin Buckley.
