Cristiano Ronaldo took on the role of proud father on Tuesday afternoon after seeing his teenage son's debut for Portugal Under-15s.
After receiving his first call-up for the national team last week, Cristiano Ronaldo JR, 14, was mentioned on the bench for the collision of Portugal with Japan on the Vlatko Markovic International Tournament in Croatia.
He came up as a replacement in the 54th minute when Portugal took a convincing 4-1 victory.
After the game, his legendary father, 40, placed a heart -warming message to his son while the young person continues to follow in his footsteps.
'Congratulations on your debut by @selecaoportugal, son. Very proud of you! 'Ronaldo Sr wrote on X, in addition to photos of his son in action.
Ronaldo JR put on the No 7 shirt on his debut, the same sweater that his father was famous in Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo Sr turned 40 in February and still plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia and this season has scored 33 goals in 39 performances.
He has spoken about dreams in the same team as his son before hanging his boots, and JR made his debut for Portugal's under the 15s on Tuesday that this could still be a realistic goal.
Ronaldo SR made his senior Portugal debut in 2003 at the age of 18 and seems to play in his sixth World Cup next year.
His son will be 15 next month and may have to accelerate his development if he besides Ronaldo Sr.
But Tuesday's outing was a step in the right direction in a big day for the Ronaldo family.
The mother of Ronaldo Sr, Maria Dolores, looked at her grandson from the sidelines in Croatia and the couple embraced after the game.
Portugal still has to play Greece and England in the youth tournament in the coming days.
