Liverpool Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is ready to leave Anfield this summer to become a member of Real Madrid and Kyle Walker believes
Kyle Walker believes that the departure of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold will have had sleepless nights about his exit Anfield. The Reds Academy prefroduct confirmed that he would leave the club last week, with a switch to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, sees his contract expired at the end of June and is expected to join Jude Bellingham in Madrid after months of speculation. The decision of the full-back has drawn the anger of a few supporters and the English international was booed when Liverpool stood opposite Arsenal during the weekend.
The defender waited until Liverpool won the Premier League to announce his decision and is ready to complete a stint where he claimed two league titles, a FA Cup, a Carabao Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold has made 353 performances for the Reds.
The response to the departure of Alexander-Arnold has drawn a mixed reaction. And Walker is of the opinion that the contributions of his teammate of England should be appreciated.
The 34-year-old notes the affection of Alexander-Arnold for his current club and City will have made a difficult decision. The defender, on loan at AC Milan from Manchester City, thinks that the man of one club might have wanted a new test.
And speaking on the Kyle Walker -Podcast, he said: “He would have had very long, sleepless nights about what he had to do for his career. The servant he has been to the club for the trophies he has won, the player he has become, I must personally thank and wish him the very best in his next chapter.
“When Real Madrid comes to knock on the door, there are not many people who would reject it. It would have been a very difficult decision for Trent because I know the love he not only has the club, but the city.
“Maybe he feels that he has achieved what he wants to achieve in his boys' club, he has won every trophy you can do and he wants a new test and chapter. You have to wish him the very best and hopefully he goes and produce what he has produced at Real Madrid.”
Alexander-Arnold seems to be playing under ex-liverpool Star Xabi Alonso in Real Madrid. The pressure will be on both to find success.
Walker continued: “There will be busy drawing for this team (Madrid). It's not just about playing football, it's about the entire package on and next to the field and I am sure he knows that he is in the international team, he can do that.
“He has his good partner Jude there, who will lead him in the right way and I would like to see a scouser with a Spanish accent.”
