Liverpool regards Lutsharel Gertruida as an alternative option for Jeremie Frimpong while they intensify their summer recruitment.
Frimpong, the Bayer Leverkusen immediately, indicated that he would like to come to Anfield if Liverpool wants to pursue a movement and the fact that he had a release clause would make this an attractive deal for a player of his undisputed quality.
The name of Frimpong has been strongly left at this point as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Fernando Carro, the director of Leverkusen, is unhappy about the speculation level.
“Jeremie Frimpong has a long contract with us, which also has an exit clause, but we are currently unaware of every transfer,” Carro emphasized.
But it is not the style of Liverpool to simply concentrate on one person and Gertruida is a serious opportunity, not least because he was such a influential figure for Arne Slot when the couple won together at Feyenoord.
Geertruida has the capacity to play back as a right, a right-sided central defender and, the most considerable, can step into midfield and if a fifth man in that area can be used, it is something that he did too much in the Eredivise.
That was the dependence on Gertruida, many in the Netherlands had a situation in mind in which he would be the first Anfield signing of the Liverpool head coach 12 months ago, but the 24-year-old eventually moved to RB Leipzig. He signed a contract until 2029 when he arrived last August.
A player who is known and rated by Liverpool's Dutch contingent of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch, Gertruida has been covered by his country 16 times and was part of the team reaching the Euro 2024 semi-final.
The Premier League champions have always enjoyed a healthy business relationship with RB Leipzig, who have bought Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szboszslai from them in the past seasons, but there is currently nothing further than the interest claimed.
