Aston Villa star Marcus Rashford set to miss rest of season after injury

Marcus Rashford will miss the rest of the season of Aston Villa after he is excluded from Friday's game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Rashford's hamstring injury will sign the loan from the last home game of Villa, and with their last match against Ouderclub Manchester United on 25 May, this means that the campaign of the England attacker is over.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined since last month and missed the 3-0 FA Cup-Semi-final defeat of Villa by Crystal Palace.

His future remains in doubt, with the Birmingham club Villa having an option of £ 40 million to turn its loan into a permanent deal.

There are reports that Rashford wants to play Champions League football next season, where Villa still secures a place in the most important event of European Club Football.

Youri Tielemans is also excluded from the Friday home at Europa League finalists Tottenham.

“Youri and Marcus are not available and Jacob Ramsey is suspended,” said Villa manager Unai Emery Thursday.

“We have to do every step forward, test and analyze how they recover.

“I don't know if they will be physically available (next week), because Marcus cannot play next week.

“But they work every day and they feel better.”

The Tottenham match was moved to Friday evening after Spurs' request to prepare for more time at the Europa League final on Wednesday in Bilbao against another Premier League team in Manchester United.

Villa was not happy with that decision and worries have been expressed that the priority of Spurs will be on Friday to prevent injury.

But Emery expects the North London Club, a low 17th in the Premier League table, competing in Villa Park.

“They try to succeed in playing Premier League and Europa League, how they perform in the Europa League is really fantastic,” added the Spaniard.

“They are in the final … they are going to play with their better players, they are going to try to compete to get the best versions to get ready for the final.”

Sixth placed villa hunts Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle while they offer to secure the Champions League qualification for a second consecutive season, with the top five of the Premier League going into the event of the next period.

“I want to play, I don't want a vacation because we are in a very good time after a long season,” Emery said.

“Now we are very, very motivated, very enthusiastic to play in Villa Park tomorrow (Friday), for our goals that we have for us to play again in Europe.

“It's not in our hands, but we can get the chance to play the Champions League again. We focus on Tottenham.”
